Mrs. Sangeeta Singh, embarked on her professional journey from the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) between 1986, completing her foundational training by 1988. She holds the degree of M.Sc. (Public Economics) from the University of Birmingham (UK), and M. Phil. (International Relations) and M.A. (Political Science) from Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi).
She has worked in various capacities as Member of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and Principal, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, amongst others. During her tenure as Member of CBDT, and as holding charge of Chairperson, CBDT, Mrs. Sangeeta Singh has led the administration and implementation of the Income Tax Act and Rules, both for the Department and taxpayers and was in charge of national-level revenue collection by the Department.
